Chief Wunder was sworn in as Fire Chief for the Green Valley Fire District in July 2014. He began his fire service career in 1992 with the Tubac Fire District as a firefighter before coming to the Green Valley Fire District in the mid-90s. During his tenure with GVFD he has held a multitude of positions, including: Paramedic, Captain, Public Information Officer, Training Chief, Battalion Chief, Operations Chief, and now Fire Chief.
Chief Wunder holds a Master’s Degree in Executive Leadership, is a graduate of the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program, and has completed accreditation as Chief Fire Officer through the Commission on Professional Credentialing.
Affiliations include: International Association of Fire Chiefs, National Society of Executive Fire Officers, Arizona Fire Chiefs Association, Arizona Fire District Association, and the Pima Fire Chiefs Association.
Chief Wunder currently serves as Vice Chair of the Pima Fire Chief’s Association and Chair of the Pima County Wireless Integrated Network Board of Directors. In addition, Chief Wunder is a proud member of the Valle Verde Rotary Club where he has served as President, Sergeant at Arms, and Membership Chair.
